The Shamisen is an instrument that Atsu brings with her in Ghost of Yotei, and she was once taught by her mother to play it. Since she lost her family early, Atsu couldn’t continue her lesson, which explains why only one tune was initially available. Thankfully, this can be amended as Atsu can eventually learn more songs. She can learn one of these tunes in the Master of the Shamisen quest in Ghost of Yotei, which takes Atsu to Master Heijiro’s Garden on the Yotei River.
Master of the Shamisen Quest In Ghost of Yotei
To start the Master of the Shamisen quest in Ghost of Yotei, head to the garden on the Yotei River, located north of Shikotsu Woods and Jade Grove, directly east of Mount Yotei.
How To Complete The Master of the Shamisen Quest In Ghost of Yotei
Once there, Atsu will begin reminiscing about her past, but there will be no clear direction on how to complete the Master of the Shamisen quest in Ghost of Yotei. What you must do is revisit Atsu’s past in three memory locations. The memories will appear one after the other, meaning they must be done in a specific sequence.
The first memory is located near the house, on the cliff overlooking the bridge underneath. Head there and switch to Atsu’s past and follow her mother’s direction to complete the memory.
Next, go down and head to the gate, which you can see across the bridge, and find the second memory near the fence. Here, another memory of Atsu and her mother will replay.
The memory takes Atsu back to when she and her mother planted fish eggs in the pond. Atsu’s mother mentioned that the fish would grow along with Atsu, and she could watch them grow with her.
Finally, once Atsu finishes watching the fish, which have grown over the years since her childhood, the final memory will appear right across her current location. Go there and reminisce once more, where the two planted a sapling together.
Once you’re back in the present, Master Heijiro will be behind Atsu. He quickly recognizes the woman who was once a little child, and decides that the two need to finish the lesson that they couldn’t complete years ago.
Song of Spirit In Ghost of Yotei
Play the Shamisen as you did when you first learnt the instrument with Atsu’s mother, and you’ll eventually unlock the Song of Spirit song in Ghost of Yotei. Unlike Atsu’s Song, which serves simply as a tune that Atsu can play on her journey, the Song of Spirit has an effect once the protagonist plays the tune.
The Song of Spirit will cause wind to appear, directing Atsu to the next Bamboo Strikes landmark, allowing her to increase Spirit points faster.
